Reaction to disaster

As discussed by Browne & Hamilton-Giachritsis (2005) there are different types of disasters in this world. Natural disaster and social disaster are the major types of disasters. People have some reactions towards different types of disaster. People often utter their opinion or interpretation about those disasters. They also often take help from different types of media (Barker, 2009). The decision or argument of people often can be made from the write up of newspaper or the speech of a television journalist. People want to share their experience and opinion in a public sphere. The decision of people is influenced by the ideology of traditional media. However, with the emergence of social media like Facebook, Twitter, people can be able to share their opinion in front of many people. It has become one of the most effective virtual public spheres (O'Keeffe & Clarke-Pearson, 2011).

Impact of social media

Especially, teenagers are very much influenced by the activities of social media. Facebook, Twitter have become a very important companion for them. They seek to share any news, information and thoughts within the social media platforms. They share them on thoughts and opinion towards many people of different regions of the world. However, they often use this social media as an important weapon to utter their thoughts. In any disaster, teenagers first share information regarding that particular event in Facebook or Twitter. As the example, Arab Spring revolution has been become possible for the cooperation of teenagers and young generation through Facebook or Twitter. They use these platforms of social media to reach many people at every corner of this world (Lenhart et al. 2010).

Conclusion

Social media is a very effective technique for the younger people. It has become the most relevant tool of communication.

Recommendations:

There should be more social media platforms those can provide the chance to engage the teenagers and young stars actively.
