Abstract

In the book "Share Jesus Without Fear" William Fay and Linda Evans Shepherd managed to present the spread of Gospel of Jesus Christ in an easy and precise manner that can touch the heart of the ordinary people. The essence of this book is to spread the Gospel as well as the faith in Jesus Christ among the ordinary people. The book starts with the experience shared by Willian Fay, who portrayed his feelings to the readers about the moments when he first came in touch with Christians and learned about Gospel. This chapter is entitled as “You Can’t Fail”[1]. In this chapter he emphasized that those Christians could not convince him to accept Jesus as his savior; however, they did not fail completely. According to the author "….causing a person to turn towards God"[2] is a responsibility that can be considered as the work of the Holy Spirit. The success of evangelism is defined by the author as sharing a person’s faith for Jesus, "It has nothing to do whatsoever with with bringing a person to Christ"[3]. This statement could be considered as the pivotal point in this book. In this book, the author managed to state sharing Jesus in such a way that relieves the readers from the burden of souls. On the other hand, the authors also stated, “sin of silence, silence is an act of disobedience to a direct command from the Lord”[4], to refer the act of not sharing Jesus. It was also stated that “And when people choose obedience, they experience a unique kind of joy in an ever-deepening relationship with their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ”[5], which emphasize their view in the religion. Also, six questions were provided in the book, which could help the readers to connect themselves with their friends.

Concrete Response

While reading the book, the first thought clouded in my mind is the importance and the application of this book in my life. When I read this book and looked in my life, I found that this book could help me to discover the insight of my life. I have a friend in California, who first introduced the presence of Jesus in my life. I can remember she preached about obedience to the Jesus, which remind me my sin of actions. Though I was never a person who are too open and can easily get in touch with unknown people, this book changed my lifestyle. I considered that I can reach people through social networks and share the Gospel of Jesus with them. I have family members who are extroverts, but I considered myself as introverts. However, I took a step forward and started sharing the words of Jesus without fear.

Reflection

I discovered that “Share Jesus Without Fear” book is an evangelistic book that proved as helpful to discover gospel in a new way and the change in the characteristics of the William Fay was very inspiring. However, while I read about few comments in this book made by the author, such as on sixth page it is stated, “That means 90 percent of us have chosen the sin of silence.”[6] After that, it was again stated, “The wound that killed him was silence. No one spoke up for him”[7]. I think Jesus came to die for mankind. Throughout his life, he served the mankind and treated all of the people as same. He never asked anyone to speak up for him or stand by him. I consider that these statements made by the authors are unbiblical as the Bible stated that,

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him. . .  We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all (Isa 53:5-7 NIV).

According to my opinion, the sin of mankind wounded him more than the silence of all of the disciples. It would be better if the authors chose wiser words too express their thoughts.

Action Steps

Action 1: The writer can meet with at least three unbelievers in the local community and use the concept of the “Share Jesus without Fear”.

 In order to complete this action, I framed my daily routine in such a that I will be able to meet with someone who does not have faith in Jesus. I found no difficulties to recognize three of people who do not have faith in Jesus. I found Mr. Brown is the shop owner next to my home is physically paralyzed and spend most of the time on his lawn while cursing Jesus. I took the advantage and tried to change his mind concept. On the other hand, I found a young girl in my community who does not possess faith towards the Jesus. I ventured to talk to her whenever I had a chance and try to encourage her about the Gospel. In the community park, I stumbled over Ramsey, who is new in our community and found his lack of faith in God. I also tried to inspire him with the words of Jesus.

Action 2: Develop a community who are dedicated to spreading the essence of "Share Jesus Without Fear".

I can assemble most of the people in the society who have their faith in Jesus and then share the Gospel with others who do not believe in the footsteps of Jesus. To spread the thought of Share Jesus Without Fear, I can use the help of the Share Jesus Without Fear (SHWF) websites. Besides, I think it will be better to include Share Jesus Without Fear (SHWF) script. I also think that the use of “Share Jesus Without Fear- Audio Book” could be proved as helpful to make those people listen to the words of God who does not possess faith in him. This Audio Book is an abridged version of the book and excellent for auditory learners. This Audio Book also presents five questions, which are mentioned in the original book and helpful in the progress of sharing the words of the Jesus. On the other hand, I discovered that the Share Jesus Without Fear (SHWF) website offers a video that made their comments about the impact of the not sharing Jesus on the life of individual as well as on the impact of Church. I will try to discuss all of the resources in detail with the team. However, I think more a detail question-answer session with individual team members is also very important in order to progress with the task.

Action 3: In the mean time, the writer can contact with three other people through online and grow their interest in the Gospel. In addition, help them to find nearest Bible teaching church in their local area.

I found it was easier to reach people through online. Through the official account in Facebook, I can reach most of the people who do not have faith in the Jesus. I selected three of my friends of friends in Facebook. First, I need to visit the profile pages of the available people. This is the first step to knowing these people. The person who keeps posted scriptures or graphics that praise the name of the Jesus will be eliminated. Then I will venture to send them a friend request and wait for their response. After that, I will start to chat with them about the "Share Jesus Without Fear". It will be helpful to discover about their concept of Gospel as well as their depth of faith on the words of Jesus. Then I would like to tell them about the relevance of heart from the burden of the sin they felt now. Then it will also be helpful to enlighten their path of the life with the words of Jesus. I think I will be able to share Gospel with them wisely and in a way it will help them to find nearest Bible teaching church in their local area.
